Training for Psychologists on Early Detection of Cognitive Changes

Training on the topic “Early Detection of Dementia: Clinical, Neuropsychological and Psychosocial Aspects” was held in the Regional Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support within the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia – Branch Kochani.

Participants gained knowledge on recognizing early indicators of cognitive decline, distinguishing between normal aging, mild cognitive impairment, and early dementia at the symptom level, as well as guidance on ethical conduct, referral procedures, and working with families and the community.

The training contributes to improving early risk recognition, protecting vulnerable individuals, and ensuring timely referral to appropriate support and further assessment within the community. It was intended for psychologists working in community settings, institutions for elderly care, and humanitarian organizations.

The training was led by Svetlana Ilovski, Specialist in Medical Psychology and Psychotherapist.
